August T.
Private tutor in Brooklyn, NY
Education
I graduated Magna Cum Laude from NYU's Gallatin School of Individualized Studies, where I focused on writing, cinema and literature. I was on the Dean's List each semester and spent a year studying in Berlin.
Experience
I worked for America Reads in NYC for a year, tutoring as many as 10 kids at a time. SAT: 1930 (I will admit I didn't blossom into a strong student until my college years.) SAT II: History I 700, Lit 690 I want to tutor because I believe my education is what made me into the person I am today. I also believe that education is what you make it, and for a long time I struggled to make it into anything. After spending time with some writers who would become my mentors, I realized just how far I could push myself and just how happy pushing myself to constantly have a better analytic and philosophical understanding of the world makes me. I am greatly communicative and empathetic, and I want to use these tools to impart positivity into students' education process. I am a hard and patient worker. In my time as a writer I have completed a novel, written for many publications and learned under some of the sharpest novelists and literature PHDs in the country. I have written gigantic research projects, sprawling analytic essays and concise reviews, all to acclaim.

Hobbies
I am a huge book, music and film buff. I have played electric bass for 7 years and work as a music writer for several publications. In my spare time, I go to shows, see movies, see friends and work on my fiction writing. I am a huge proponent of travel and independence, and spent a year studying in Berlin and 5 weeks backpacking alone throughout Eastern Europe. I really enjoyed my education and hope to impart all my time in school gave me onto younger students.
