Education

I went to Boston College and majored in Biology. I finished one of the top of my class with a 3.82 gpa and am currently applying to medical school. I earned a 35 on my MCAT, top 4%.

Experience

In the last five years I have tutored 87 students for a range of subjects: SAT, ACT, chemistry, physics, biology, organic chemistry, algebra, pre-calculus, pre-algebra, reading, writing, spelling, and history. I have tutored kids of all ages: jr high school, high school, college, and graduate school. My six SAT/ACT students have improved greatly--the average SAT improvement has been 110 points per section (330 total). My fifteen classroom students have ALL earned at least a B+ in their courses, with 13 of the 15 earning an A- or an A. I go above and beyond to make sure my students succeed--I make lesson plans, give test-like practice problems, and help students develop studying techniques that I would employ if I were a student in his/her class. I am also very quick to respond to emails. I am an effective tutor for a number of reasons. It is not enough for me to simply master the material. I have to be able to communicate the concepts to the student clearly and creatively enough that the student is able to master the material. I also accept complete responsibility and realize that if a student cannot grasp the material it is because I am not teaching it well enough. I am able to relate to the students and make the tutoring experience enjoyable.
