I have eight years of teaching experience and have been a high school teacher of English for the last seven years. I have New York State Professional Certification to teach English in grades 7 - 12. During my tenure as a NYC teacher, I have taught at every grade level and learning level. I understand that the needs of a student in an Advanced Placement course are different than those of a non-native speaker of English who is working on their reading and writing skills; I can help you achieve your goals because I am a successful classroom teacher and have the experience and resources to get you moving. My specialty is literacy and helping students become strong writers, but my academic strength used to be science. I minored in biology in college, and only changed my major because English literature presented more of a challenge to me. I understand frustrations that students encounter and am adept at seeing each learner as an individual who simply needs the right motivation and access point to become successful.
