Experience

I love working with people in any capacity at all, whether it is in a therapeutic, academic, recreational or social setting. I have extensive experience working with children, teens, young adults and adults in these areas- both with and without special needs. I love tutoring because I love teaching others confidence in learning new skills and mastering information. Oftentimes people just need positivity, encouragement and different ways of thinking in order to excel in any area. I have been passionate about Psychology ever since I can remember. I majored in it in my undergraduate program at University of Rochester, which has one of the strongest Psychology programs in the country. I continued my studies at Teachers College Columbia University where I got my Masters degree in Clinical and Counseling Psychology. During this time I was participating in research and clinical experience with diverse populations in NYC. I have been recently accepted to a Clinical Psychology PhD program at Hofstra University where I will continue working with children with a range of special needs and their families of diverse backgrounds. I have been working for the past several years at an outpatient pediatric psychiatry clinic in NYC and plan to continue in this line of work in the future. I am well-versed in Psychology theory and practice and would love an opportunity to teach it to others who are taking classes in the field and/or interested in pursuing it themselves! As a young girl I was always afraid of public speaking, but with enough practice and exposure to it, I have grown to love it! Now, I am extremely comfortable with public speaking. I have taken courses in public speaking throughout my studies. I regularly teach public speaking/presentation and assertiveness skills to children and youth at my work place, both for those with and without anxiety, as well as those with and without mastery of English language. In my professional life, I have prepared and presented on various poster (research) presentations at conferences and at my workplace to clinical and administrative hospital staff. I have been working with special needs population for many years across various settings including research, clinical, educational, and care-taking. This includes tutoring/educational support, group therapy, individual therapy as well. I am very comfortable working with children who have ADHD, Autism, disruptive behavior, learning and language difficulties, etc. I speak Spanish and English fluently, so can work with this population in either and both languages. I am patient, enthusiastic, and passionate about working with people. Given my experience I am also easily able to adapt my instruction to the individual's needs. Please contact me if you have any questions, I am happy to speak with you!

Hobbies

I love to keep myself busy and engage in a range of different activities. I love most sports and athletic activities from walking, running, basketball, and soccer, and also enjoy learning about new ones! My personal hobbies also include photography, reading, and cooking. I love cultural activities such a going to museums, listening to music (jazz shows), comedy shows, visiting parks and botanical gardens, etc. One of my favorite things about living in NYC is the opportunity to explore new pop-ups and restaurants, bakeries and coffee shops.
