Experience

I got my first experience as an educator 13 years ago in Taiwan. I taught and tutored English there, and I was able to really develop my teaching skills quickly by facing the challenges of helping students learn despite cultural and language differences. When I tutor students, I have a very simple goal, which is to teach students how to learn. I figure out what students know and what their goals are, as well as where they may have any difficulties or anxieties about a particular subject. Open communication is crucial in the tutoring environment because it allows me to quickly get feedback and see progress, and we can set small goals together and achieve and exceed them. It's extremely satisfying to me as a tutor to help students develop an interest in subjects like poetry, literature, languages, art, politics, and history. I enjoy working alongside students to help them learn these subjects effectively, and all my students have indeed developed an interest in the subjects eventually. In my free time, I enjoy sailing, reading, walking, hiking, eating good cheese, and traveling.
