Experience
My tutoring experience began as an undergraduate student at Hamilton College, where I volunteered to help refugees with English. I really enjoyed helping others learn, and I've continued to pursue tutoring. I have been a teaching assistant in German courses and a writing tutor on campus. Through these roles I've had the opportunity to help students with academic essays, study skills, writing technique, German language, and other aspects of learning. I also learned myself how to be patient with students, be flexible to learning styles, and provide support and encouragement. It's very rewarding to help students learn new things and get excited about their abilities. I modify my teaching approach to match the learning style of each student that I work with, and I focus on providing lessons that are interesting and engaging. I'm currently working in Germany on a Fulbright scholarship assisting students in English at the high school and middle school level. I also tutor writing on a freelance basis. I'm comfortable working with students of any age, level of ability, or cultural background. In my free time, I like to read, hike, play piano, ride horseback, and volunteer.
