Experience

From an early age, when asked what profession I wanted when I grew up, without hesitation I said "teacher." I'm grown now, but I still have a love of learning, and an enthusiasm for assisting others. As a sophomore in high school I formed and ran a study group of fellow Regents students. While attending university I gained experience assisting 5th graders with math and writing. Teaching children of that age showed me the flexibility, patience, and multitasking skills required to run a classroom. I also realized a teacher has to have knowledge of and interest in the subject they're teaching equivalent to the confidence in their student's aptitude to learn the subject. My experiences tutoring have also taught me that a tutor must be patient with a student and provide them with the tools required to succeed. Then, after providing the student with the tools required to succeed, a tutor needs to know when to step aside and let the student succeed on their own. Subjects I tutor include Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, French 1-4, and High School & College English. Outside of tutoring my interests include music, poetry, languages, and fitness.
