I earned my PhD in English from Michigan State University, and I taught at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. I have 19 years of experience as an educator assisting students in the United States and India. In my current role at the university, I supervise teaching insurance, assist students in finding placement, provide oversight for student grants, and advise English students. I've also won the school's recognition award for contributions to students, a distinction that is nominated by students on campus. I also was awarded with a teaching award as a masters student at Michigan State. As a tutor, I focus on helping students build motivation and confidence in their abilities. I try to keep students engaged and working towards their full academic potential. I prioritize creating a learning environment where students can communicate openly with me and our discussions can turn into opportunities for learning. Ultimately I want students to develop their own learning skills so that they can become self-sufficient, which I believe is the best path towards long-term academic success. I can assist students in English, writing, literature, grammar, ESL, reading comprehension, study skills and organization, public speaking, and test preparation for various reading, writing, verbal, and literature sections of exams like the GRE, ACT, and SAT. I'm also comfortable helping students prepare for the MCAT, DAT, TOEFL, and other exams.
