Experience
One of the reasons why I love tutoring is because it gives me the opportunity to help my students develop skills that will aid them outside of the classroom. Along with teaching students math and science, I also work to boost their confidence and teach them how to think critically, so that they're able to solve problems independently. As a teacher, my goal isn't just to help students complete projects and prepare for tests. I also want to empower them by sharing my own wisdom and experience, so that they can see just how transformative education can be. I graduated from Carleton College with a bachelor's degree in physics. Shortly after completing college, I started working as an assistant director in New York City, which has given me the privilege of being a part of some major motion pictures. When teaching challenging material, I like to find a way to relate the coursework to my students' interests. By doing that, I'm not only able to grab their attention and keep them motivated, I'm also teaching things in a way that they can better understand and apply outside of the classroom. When I'm not working as a tutor, I like to spend my time learning how to code.
