Experience

I recently graduated cum laude from Barnard College, where I studied a number of exciting courses including Italian. My college experience gave me the opportunity to participate in an eight-month study abroad program, where I learned how to perfect my Italian while living in both Milan and Florence. Throughout the duration of my college education, I worked as a tutor and used my own wisdom and experience to empower a new generation of grade-school students. One of my favorite things about tutoring is that you get more flexibility than you would working as a public school teacher. I like being able to customize my classroom material to fit the individual needs of the student. I understand that everyone learns differently and that it's important to include a lot of hands-on activities so that everyone can enjoy the learning experience. I believe that my liberal arts education has given me a wealth of resources that make me an excellent teacher, especially when tutoring in English, research, and essay writing. Along with teaching coursework, I also like to help students improve their study habits and critical thinking skills, so that they're able to come up with their own solutions to life's challenges outside of the classroom.
