I'm a tutor who is based out of New York City, where I enjoy reading, watching drama, and playing chess when I'm not in the classroom working with students. I have my bachelor's degree in philosophy from Carleton College. I'm also currently working on my PhD in the field of English literature. As a tutor, I have experience working with students from all age groups and at a variety of skill level. Some of the subjects I can provide lessons in are English as a second language, standardized test preparation, writing, and reading. I believe that my role as a tutor is to develop a relationship with each of my students so I can understand exactly what that person's individual strength and weaknesses are. Once I figure out where the student is struggling, I develop an individualized lesson plan to help combat that student's problem areas. Through targeted exercises I help my students overcome the issues they're having in whatever subject they're working on. Ultimately, I always keep the safety and welfare of my students in mind, which I consider to be my primary guiding principle as an educator.
