Private tutor in Brooklyn, NY
University at Buffalo - Bachelors, Pre-Pharmacy , University at Buffalo - PHD, Pharmacy
I earned my PhD from the State University of New York and I subsequently received certification to practice pharmacy within New York. I've worked as a teaching assistant during my graduate studies and have taught a few independent classes as well. However, I find that my true teaching strength lies in helping students on an individual basis. I currently tutor a variety of subjects, including algebra 1 & 2, English, elementary math, middle school math, statistics, art, biology, anatomy, chemistry, microbiology, physics, physiology, astronomy, French, Japanese, Korean, phonics, drawing, biochemistry, earth science, nutrition, life sciences, and pharmacology. My style of teaching is very relaxed. I like to ensure the students are comfortable with me and I take the time to get to know them as individuals rather than just asking about the specific subject with which they are struggling. I find it is much easier to customize lessons when I know what my students are interested in so that I can bring in real world examples that are relevant to them. I know that each student has their own learning style and they bring their preconceived notions about their academic strengths, weaknesses, and even preferences into the session with them. Understanding this helps me be a more effective tutor.
