Experience

I have over four years experience with individual tutoring, facilitating small study groups, and one-on-one mentoring/case management. As the Supplemental Instruction (SI) Fellow at Manhattan College, I used a peer-based study model to assist students struggling in traditionally difficult history courses. As an SI fellow, I created individualized study plans with students and worked on methods to assist them with developing study skills that could be transferred to other courses and lead to self-sufficiency and academic success. I also have experience facilitating job readiness workshops for individuals returning home from jail/prison, which includes interview preparation, research, adult basic education, and writing skills. Professional Experience: Jersey City Employment and Training Program, Jersey City, New Jersey August 2015- August 2016 U.S. Department of Transportation Case Manager (April 2016 – August 2016) • Oversaw all programmatic duties, reporting, and recruitment for an $800,000 grant from the US Department of Transportation. • Managed a caseload of 270+ clients, including individuals returning home from prison, and assisted them with securing careers in unions and the transit industry. • Built and maintained relationships with strategic partners, including union leaders, government officials, and community organizations. Job Search Coach (August 2015- April 2016) • Taught weekly job readiness workshops to people returning home from prison. • Provided job coaching for a caseload of 50+ clients receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). • Authored monthly reports and tracked data for a $100,000+ grant from the Paul & Phyllis Fireman Charitable Foundation.
