Experience
I earned my undergraduate degree at New York University. I just recently earned my master's degree in education from Teachers College, Columbia University. My graduate school work focused on the cultural attitudes and customs of ethnic groups as well as interdisciplinary studies. I also worked on using these best practices in a variety of New York City's immersion classrooms, in my tutoring sessions, and in my classroom. Professionally, I've taught elementary through high school students the Spanish language. I've also helped dual and foreign language immersion individuals learn different linguistic and reading methods. My philosophy for teaching reflects what I've learned through the most up-to-date research and studies. I take into consideration what effect the results of this research has had on classrooms that utilize the students' second language as the medium of classroom instruction. I additionally draw on my own personal experience with teaching a foreign language and focus on the big picture. I believe in giving students personalized attention while exposing them to the entire language learning experience. When I'm not in the classroom, I enjoy listening to music. In fact, I like to incorporate music into my teaching approach. I also enjoy the theater, which has developed from my background in performing arts.
