Experience
Speaking French with my Mother throughout my youth and my experience receiving tutoring in high school shaped my inclusive work style. Colloquial discussions at home led me to appreciate proper grammar and investigative thought. My academic pursuits include English and Russian studies at Middlebury College, and a Bachelor of Arts in French Studies from Bard College. I am considering an MFA in literary translation, and plan to expand my career as an editor in trade publishing. I have experience working with primary and middle-school-age children, although I feel most adept supporting the vast studies of high school students. I support students in essay composition, multi-level French, and reading/writing test-prep. I enjoy empowering students to authentically express themselves and their unique views effectively. I value working with them as an equal, rather than an authority figure, to embolden them on their unique academic endeavors. Aside from being a tutor, I have worked in construction and farming in the U.S and in France. High school theater, basketball, soccer, and guitar are hobbies. Occasionally I can be found performing stand up comedy. Movies and television are entertaining, but truthfully, being immersed in a good book is home.
