I'm originally from Los Angeles and have recently moved to Brooklyn. I graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a bachelor's degree in Modern Literature and a master's degree in Counseling Psychology from California State University, Long Beach. Even though my educational background is in the humanities, I have always been drawn toward Math and Sciences. While living in California, I served as a coach for a wrestling team at the high school level. I was also employed as a tutor. During this time, I worked with students on subjects like English, Geometry, Algebra, Statistics, PreCalc, Trigonometry, Chemistry, and Psychology. I enjoy dealing with young people of this age group, since they are at the age where they have the ability to handle serious scholastic subjects but are still a lot of fun. I enjoy tutoring students in Middle School Math, College Essays, Public Speaking, Honors Chemistry, Science, Social Sciences, and more. My interests outside the field of education include Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I teach, as well as compete in, this sport, and I was drawn to its technical components. For cross-training purposes, I practice wrestling and judo. I also have more than 10 years experience in the martial arts. It has allowed me to travel to a number of interesting places and meet many fascinating people along the way.
