Zachary C.
Private tutor in Brooklyn, NY
Education
Calvin College - BA, Spanish, French, Linguistics , Rutgers University - MA, Spanish Literature
Experience
I earned my B.A. in French, Spanish, and Linguistics from Calvin College. After graduation, I spent time in Ecuador teaching French and English as a Second Language to university students. I have also spent time helping ESL/ELL students prepare for the TOEFL exam. I earned my master's degree in Literature in Spanish from Rutgers University. I am currently continuing my education at Rutgers, where I am a doctoral candidate and Spanish professor. I am able to tutor French and English as well, but am most passionate about Spanish. I have a deep love for Latin American culture and literature, and the many opportunities for students to use their Spanish language skills every day helps every student increase their fluency. As a tutor, I enjoy applying real world situations and usage to language learning. This approach helps students retain vocabulary since they form relationships between everyday activities and their new language skills. I love helping each of my students discover a whole new world through learning a new language! When I'm not tutoring or teaching, I enjoy chess, cycling with my friends, and reading.
