Experience
I attended the University of Massachusetts - Amherst for my bachelor's degree in political economy. I then went on to work in college during my master's degree in math education. At both schools, I graduated summa cum laude. I'm now working on a master's in public administration at NYU Wagner. My concentration is education policy. I've been teaching math for four years, working with students on middle school math topics and teaching geometry, trigonometry, and algebra. I've also taught health. Students I work with include remedial level students, advanced placement students, ESL students, and others. I believe every student can succeed in math, and I focus on helping students become confident in their abilities. I guide students through step-by-step approaches that they can repeat to find answers on their own. I like to help students develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills that they can use in math and in other subjects. When students say they don't like math, I believe that they have not been taught in the right way. I aim to alleviate this problem. I can tutor students in algebra, geometry, middle school level math, pre-calculus, trigonometry, and other related topics. I can also help students prepare for the math portions of the ACT, SAT, and other tests. In my free time, I enjoy soccer, snowboarding, backpacking, and rock climbing.
