BACKGROUND IN TUTORING & TEACHING
While at Rutgers I was an Honors Tutor in the Humanities and Social Sciences. I also taught English as a Second Language for short periods in Uganda, Kenya, and India as well as for 10th grade English as a Second Language for a year in Indonesia. I have worked in several countries as a beginners chess instructor with Chess for Education Abroad (see: http://chesseduabroad.wordpress.com/).
I have extensive experience working on college applications and editing creative writing and academic work in general, including working as the Managing Editor for the student community blog Applied Sentience.
Lastly, I am the Director of the Camp Quest curriculum program and lead a team of volunteers in order to create a database of lesson plans to be used by CQ's 17 camps around the country. I also use these lesson plans myself when leading activities at two member camps.
BACKGROUND IN ACADEMIA & RESEARCH
Additionally, I have a wide range of experiences working with Social Science research organizations, especially in the area of ethics, education, culture, and religion. I have been a research assistant with the International Center for Religion and Diplomacy in Washington, D.C. and the International Humanist and Ethical Union at the UN. I have lived and worked with NGO's and schools in Germany, England, Bosnia, Indonesia, Kenya, Uganda and India.

HobbiesI love chess, or more specifically, combinatorial games. In other words I love to collect and play games with 'full information and no chance', such as chess, go, and mancala as well as less well known games like bhaga chal, xian qi, and hnefatafl.
I also enjoy reading and have an eclectic collection of fiction and non-fiction books, I have a second degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and am a huge fan of the Zelda video games.
