I graduated from Yale University in 2011 with a degree in English and a concentration in Creative Writing with a 3.8 GPA. For high school I attended Harvard Westlake in Los Angeles. I received a 2290 on my SAT. Currently I work as a tutor and a filmmaker. Teaching and learning are passions of mine; I love to help others succeed.
Experience
I'm a creative thinker who finds fun, engaging approaches to difficult assignments. My teaching style is mentorship-based, meaning ability goes hand-in-hand with appreciation of the subject matter. I have three years of tutoring experience. My students gone from C students to making As, earned a 2270 on the SAT and qualified for the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth program. I have worked with students of all ages and ability levels. I can help with daily homework, long term assignments, or planning for your academic future. I studied at Yale with some incredible professors (Harold Bloom, David Bromwich and Donald Margulies), and I try to emulate their teaching methods in my tutoring style. I offer tutoring services in the SAT, SSAT, ISEE, English, History, essay-writing, Latin and Math. --I have worked as a paid reporter in the past and have edited and conceptualized hundreds of assignments with Yale Daily News reporters. If you need help strengthening your papers or conceiving of compelling arguments, I can draw on years of high-level experience to help you with that. --Poetry and literature were my main academic areas of focus. I can help you develop as an English student - at any level. --I spent 7 years studying Latin from middle school through college. I've translated Virgil, Ovid, Cicero and Catullus and still retain a working knowledge of the language by reading Latin poetry and studying it independently. I would love to help you develop a mastery of it. --I scored a 790 on the Math Section of my SAT and completed all the AP level math courses offered at my high school with straight As.
